Little Toby to receive cash boost

A leading builder has gifted £1,000 towards the cost of specialised equipment for a Hebburn boy with cerebral palsy.

Persimmon Homes North East made the donation to three-year-old Toby Horner from the company’s Community Champions scheme, which provides financial support to deserving individuals, clubs or organisations across the region.

Toby was diagnosed with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy aged just five months, which affects all four limbs and means he may never walk. Toby’s family want him to live his life to the fullest, but in order to do so, need financial help with private therapies and equipment.

Tracey Horner, Toby’s mother who has devoted to raise awareness of cerebral palsy after her son was diagnosed with the condition, said: “We are so grateful to Persimmon for this generous donation. The equipment and physio that Toby needs is extremely expensive, and is simply out of our reach. We want to ensure that Toby enjoys all the normal activities that children enjoy as part of growing up.”

Debbie Zaben, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes North East, said the scheme was an excellent way for the company to ensure it supports the communities in which it builds new homes.

She added: “We are so thrilled to give this lovely family a cash boost. It is only right that we support Toby with this donation and hope this additional equipment and therapy improves his quality of life.”
