Galliford Try to build 65 homes on former Boots warehouse site in Heywood

Regeneration firm Galliford Try Partnerships, together with housing association The Guinness Partnership, has secured planning consent to deliver dozens of new homes in Heywood, Greater Manchester.

Galliford Try, which was selected as Guinness’ preferred development partner last year, will build 65 houses on the site of the former Boots warehouse.

The scheme will comprise a mix of two- and three-bedroom properties, with 37 built for Guinness as affordable housing and 28 to be sold under the Galliford Try-owned Linden Homes brand.

Construction work on the site is due to begin in the coming months, with the homes expected to be on the market in Spring 2017.

Galliford Try Partnerships’ development director, Darren Leary, said: “We are delighted to have received planning permission for the redevelopment of the former Boots warehouse site.

“We have worked very closely with The Guinness Partnership and Rochdale Borough Council in bringing the site forward and hope that this development will be the catalyst for future regeneration in the area.”

Planning permission was secured for Galliford Try and Guinness by Cheadle-based consultants Euan Kellie Property Solutions.

Ian Kershaw, a business development manager with The Guinness Partnership, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Galliford Try Partnerships on this project to help address the shortage of affordable homes in Heywood, and we look forward to commencing work on site in the coming months.”

Last month, Galliford Try submitted plans for a £9m residential scheme in Gorton. The firm is also due to deliver a number of new homes on a 3.4-acre site in Newbold, Greater Manchester.
