Hole in one for The Brain Tumour Charity as Barratt raises over £16,000 at Golf Day

Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes both Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, has raised £16,420 at a Golf Day event for its charity of the year, the Brain Tumour Charity.

The event, which was held at the KP Club near Pocklington, raised a fantastic amount for the charity, an organisation at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours through research and offering support to those affected by the disease.

The event raised a fantastic £8,210, with Barratt then matching all donations to bring the grand total to £16,420. Eighteen teams took part in the charity event this month, with Barratt receiving sponsorship for each hole, as well as holding an auction and raffle to raise the vital funds.

The event was also supported by Norcon Construction, East Coast Construction, MAP, Humac and CBS Landscapes, who all donated raffle prizes to the event.

Paul Newman, Managing Director for Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire East division, commented:

We’re a charitable bunch and we constantly look at new ways to help those less fortunate than ourselves. If there’s a job to be done, we’re not shy in showing our support. The Brain Tumour Charity is very dear to our hearts as we lost a colleague to the disease last year, so supporting the charity with our Golf Day event seemed the right thing to do.

Paul continued:

The enthusiasm from everyone was extremely impressive with 18 teams taking part. By having fun and encouraging our whole team to get involved we raised a phenomenal amount of money to help support those affected by brain tumours, whilst also raising awareness for the charity.

Geraldine Pipping, Director of Fundraising for The Brain Tumour Charity, added:

We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as Barratt Developments’ charity partner for 2016. We are looking forward to working with the whole team as they take on all of the challenges and events they have planned. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on voluntary donations, so partnerships like this one make a huge difference to what we can achieve. Barratt Developments’ fundraising efforts will play a vital part in helping us to fund research towards more effective brain tumour treatments and supporting those whose lives have been affected by the disease.
