Balkan Holidays marks Liverpool return with new Bulgarian service

Following a 10-year absence at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA), travel operator Balkan Holidays is preparing to resume its Merseyside operations with a new Bulgarian route.

From Summer 2017, the firm will run a weekly service to Bourgas, the second-largest city on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

Having last operated at LJLA in the mid 2000s, Balkan Holidays has now decided to rejoin the airport’s growing list of carriers and operators.

LJLA’s air service development director, Mark Povall, said: “Balkan Holidays last operated from Liverpool 10 years ago and holidays to the Black Sea resorts have since grown in popularity.

“We expect flights to Bourgas to prove popular with the regions’ holidaymakers who now have access to great value for money holidays in Bulgaria, with the added convenience of flying from Liverpool.”

According to the airport, some of the most popular resorts along the Black Sea coast include Nessebar, Sunny Beach and Duni.

Last month British airline easyjet launched its full Winter 2016 schedule, while Irish carrier Ryanair followed suite with new services to Pisa, Gran Canaria and Porto forming part of its latest winter offer.
