Entrepreneurial brother and sister team bringing North African cuisine to Seven Dials
Brother and sister entrepreneurs Layo and Zoe Paskin are bringing North African cuisine to the West End with their new restaurant, The Barbary.
Focusing on grilled and baked cuisine from the Barbary Coast, encompassing Moorish Spain, Morocco and the Barbary Coast to Jerusalem, the new 1,276 sq ft restaurant is to open in Neal’s Yard at the Seven Dials shopping and leisure district.
It is the second restaurant concept from the Paskin pair after their successful The Palomar site in Soho.
Layo Paskin, co-owner of The Barbary, said: “We wanted a central London location, with a strong history but also an intimate atmosphere to launch our new restaurant. Seven Dials provided all of this, and Neal’s Yard especially as it is a magical part of London. We look forward to bringing The Barbary to Seven Dials this summer.”
Property developer Shaftesbury, who own the Seven Dials site, have overseen a number of new leisure and dining outlets in area this year, including the addition of the SaladPride cafe and fitness concept Another_Space.
Commenting on this new opening, Julia Wilkinson, Portfolio & Group Restaurant Strategy Executive at Shaftesbury said: “The Barbary is a great addition and will further diversify the dining offer in Neal’s Yard. Our active management of the yard over the past 18 months has delivered some standout dining concepts.
“Keeping the line-up fresh with such strong operators is essential and makes Seven Dials a unique location, attractive to both new restaurant concepts and international retail brands alike.”
Davis Coffer Lyons acted for Seven Dials and The Barbary represented themselves.
