Flying the flag for charity’s supporters

In 2013 Conrad Dickinson, Managing Director of Karpet Mills and Patron of Northumberland Wildlife Trust guided HRH Prince Harry, and teams of injured service personnel from the UK, USA and Commonwealth in a trek to the South Pole as part of the Walking with the Wounded 2013 South Pole Allied Challenge.

As well as essential items, Conrad had something special packed on his sledge… the flag of the People’s Postcode Lottery which he hoisted upon his arrival at the South Pole; in recognition of the support the players of the charity lottery have given the Trust over the past 8 years.

The same flag has now returned from another expedition with Conrad - this time following a 1300km trek through Norway, Sweden and the Arctic Circle with Conrad’s wife Hilary and fellow Northumberland Wildlife Trust trustees Nigel Porter and Ian Jackson.

Conrad and Hilary set off on their expedition in January to Norway to raise money for the wildlife charity’s vital conservation work and celebrate a 35 year love affair with the area, whilst Nigel and Ian joined them later in the trip.

Half way up Mount Kebnekaise which is Sweden’s highest mountain, Conrad and Nigel stopped to mark the occasion with a photo as a thank you to players of People’s Postcode Lottery who, to date supported the Trust’s conservation work to the tune of an incredible £919,940.000.
