Alnwick’s Douglas Home & Co eyes expansion north of the border with acquisition

Chartered accountants Douglas Home & Co have announced a merger with East Linton-based Dickson & Co that will see the firm expand its presence in Scotland.

The deal will strengthen Douglas’s cross border offering, adding to its current line-up of Scottish branches in Kelso, Hawick and Melrose, as well as its branch in Alnwick.

It follows Robin Dickson’s retirement after a period of illness, which saw him hand over the reigns at the accountancy to Douglas Home, and will see the team at Dickson & Co move over to Douglas’s existing office at 49 Market Street in Haddington.

Alan Drummond, Managing Director of Douglas Home & Co commented: “This is an exciting development and a great opportunity for Douglas Home & Co to be able to expand its business portfolio in East Lothian.

“There is a natural synergy between the two businesses, which is evident in the work ethic and the ethos of both companies. Established in 1983, Douglas Home & Co has grown to encompass five branches scattered across both sides of the Scottish Borders, offering a range of accountancy and taxation services.
