Doncaster Sheffield Airport staff get in the Euro spirit.

Flybe kickoffs Doncaster Sheffield route to France as Euro 2016 approaches

Flybe has launched new daily flights to Paris from Doncaster Sheffield Airport to ensure Yorkshire football fans can travel to France for Euro 2016 games.

The route, which was one of eight new routes launched in March from the airport, will take fans from Doncaster to Paris giving them easy access to Euro 2016 matches in the French capital and in Lens, to the north of Paris.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “It is great that these new daily flights to Paris have kicked off in time for the 2016 UEFA European Championship tournament.

“We are looking forward to welcoming lots of football fans flying locally with us out to the games in particular to support England in their group match on June 16th.

“These new flights bring with them great connectivity to Europe and this is just one of many opportunities for sports fans to make the most of them.”

In just over an hour and a half, fans will be able to fly to see games played at the Stade de France in Paris as well as easily get to Stade Bollaert-Delelis, Lens, just over an hour by train from Paris.

England face Wales, Slovakia and Russia in Group B with their campaign starting on Saturday, June 11: England v Russia (20:00, Stade Velodrome, Marseille). Their other group B matches take place on Thursday, June 16: England v Wales (14:00, Stade Bollaert-Delelis, Lens) and Monday, June 20: Slovakia v England (20:00, Stade Geoffroy Guichard, St Etienne).

For the first time, qualifying takes place under the new ‘Week of Football’ concept, which sees games played from Thursday to Tuesday. Kick-off times will be set mainly at 18.00CET and 20.45CET on Saturdays and Sundays and 20.45CET for Thursdays, Fridays, Mondays and Tuesdays.

On double-header matchweeks, teams will play on Thursday/Sunday, Friday/Monday or Saturday/Tuesday. Each day of the ‘Week of Football’ will have eight to ten matches.

Steve added: “We wish England all the success in this tournament and hope fans from across the region will have a need to fly to or back from the final in Paris!”
