Warrington-based procurement outsourcing specialist Inprova Group has appointed leading industry figure Michael Dent as Managing Director of its new Inprova Energy business.
Dent, aged 41, has extensive senior leadership experience of the European energy markets, and is a former board director of Utilitywise plc. He also held senior roles at Total Gas & Power Ltd and RWE npower.
Inprova Energy is the newly branded energy division of Inprova Group - bringing together three of the UK’s leading energy consultancies (energyTEAM, ENER-G Procurement, and UES Energy) under a new brand.
Most recently, Dent was Managing Director Europe, and Sales and Marketing Director for Utilitywise Plc, where he drove substantial profitability improvement for the European division and led steep sales growth in the UK corporate market. He also played a key role in mergers and acquisitions.
During a nine year career at Total Gas & Power, in his role as Sales and Marketing Director he was responsible for more than £6bn of non-domestic energy contracts and oversaw dramatic growth.
Paul Kennedy, Inprova Group Chief Executive said: “With Michael’s vast industry experience, visionary approach and track record of achievement, Inprova Energy is setting the right course for further growth, including possible future acquisitions.
“Under Michael’s leadership, our vision is to be recognised as the most trusted energy advisor in the UK, keeping customer service excellence rooted at the heart of everything we do.”
Michael Dent said: “Although Inprova Energy is a new brand, it has a 40-year history with 3,000 energy contracts worth £1bn placed last year alone. Our highly skilled, customer-focused team manage the energy needs of some of the UK’s biggest brands. I’m delighted to be working with such a passionate and dedicated team towards achieving our ‘most trusted energy advisor’ vision.”

The 100-strong Inprova Energy team helps a wide variety of businesses, including Virgin Atlantic, Hotel du Vin, National Grid, Carlsberg, Wales & West Utilities, and retail group White Stuff, to reduce energy costs and manage energy efficiency and compliance. The company’s specialist water division is also helping organisations to prepare for water market reform.
The company has offices in Warwickshire, Cheshire, Sussex and South Wales, and a procurement operation in the US.
