London Evening Standard unveils shortlist for Business Awards
The shortlist for the Evening Standard Business Awards, in partnership with Virgin Money, has been announced today. The inaugural awards will feature twelve categories, designed to showcase and celebrate excellence and cutting-edge innovation in the business sectors for which London exerts influence and importance on a global scale.
Whittled down from the longlist by the Evening Standard’s team of specialist writers, each of the categories will now be debated over and decided on by a panel of esteemed judges which includes WPP chief Sir Martin Sorrell, easyJet boss Carolyn McCall and Virgin Money chief executive Jayne-Anne Gadhia. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on the evening of Thursday 30th June at London’s grade 1 listed Tobacco Dock.
Among the shortlisted entries are Citi, Morgan Stanley and Allen & Overy vying for Corporate Citizen of the Year; Aldi, Uber and JD Sports battling it out for Consumer Business of the Year; and Crowdcube, Sophos, ARM and Deliveroo in the race for Tech Company of the Year. Jo Malone (Jo Loves), Kieran O’Neill (Thread), Jasper Cuppaidge (Camden Town Brewery), and Peter Roberts (Pure Gym), are all also in with a chance of walking away as Entrepreneur of the Year, whilst SME Business of the Year, in partnership with LDC sees Fever-Tree, FinnCap, Silent Pool Distillers and Nature Delivered (graze.com) all in the running.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony, presented by British newscaster, presenter and recent Strictly Come Dancing contestant Katie Derham, with the CBI’s director general Carolyn Fairbairn as the keynote speaker.
Jim Armitage, City Editor at the London Evening Standard said: “The talent amongst the inaugural shortlist is exceptional, and we are delighted to be amplifying London as a hub for business innovation with a global impact. We are really excited to see what our team of judges decides when it comes to the winners, and to get the opportunity to celebrate with them at our prestigious ceremony.”
