TIBCO Trailblazer Awards Honour Customers for Exemplary Digital Business Transformation

TIBCO Software Inc., a global leader in integration and analytics, announced the winners of this year’s TIBCO Trailblazer Awards Program. This year, a new award category has been added - the Transformer Award - honouring five customers. Recipients of this year’s Trailblazer Awards were selected for their achievements in turning IT into a business differentiator through the strategic utilisation of TIBCO® technology to enable digital business transformation. The awards were presented by Murray Rode, chief executive officer, TIBCO, at a ceremony held at the TIBCO NOW® conference in Las Vegas at the MGM Resort & Casino.

“We have such a great customer base, it’s always difficult to identify our Trailblazer winners. This year, the awards represent five exceptional examples of our customers using TIBCO technology to improve their business performance and enhance the experience for their customers,” said Mr. Rode. “I congratulate this year’s winners as they truly embody the spirit of the Traiblazer Awards.”

Award recipients are honoured for accomplishing tangible and substantial business results using TIBCO technology. They demonstrate ingenuity and thought leadership in meeting the demands of the digital consumer.

The winners in each category include:

Pioneer Award – An innovative organisation that has transformed IT into a competitive asset, driving lower total cost of ownership, improved workflows, and increased agility.

Winner: Norfolk Southern, a premier U.S. transportation company, operates the most extensive intermodal network in the East and is a major transporter of coal, automotive, and industrial products over its 20,000-mile railroad network in 22 states and the District of Columbia. The company sought to implement digital business transformation to improve operations and asset utilisation. Norfolk Southern leveraged the TIBCO Fast Data platform to create a central event model that incorporated vital data from multiple sources, including Internet of Things sensors, its internal legacy system, customer and industry interchange, and other external sources to reflect the current state of the railway. Using TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks™, TIBCO Enterprise Message Service™, and TIBCO Spotfire®, the company streamlined operations, going from multiple views of the railway to a single, real-time view. This helped Norfolk Southern achieve its business goals.

Impact Award – Dynamic companies leveraging a flexible, agile platform to revolutionise their IT strategy, facilitating operational excellence, increased competitiveness, and a superior customer experience.

Winner: Over the course of operating for over a century, First Citizens Bank was looking to expand its services and offerings to customers. As the company grew, implementing a standardised integration platform became crucial for them to enhance service delivery, simplify IT infrastructure, and create new services across various channels such as mobile, web, or within bank branches. Implementing a combination of ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks™, TIBCO Enterprise Message Service and TIBCO ActiveSpacesïƒÂÂ’, First Citizens Bank saw benefits including accelerated time to market of new services and a near-immediate improvement in call centre customer service resolution times.

Visionary Award – Inspirational companies that have redefined their business in the wake of major technology disruption to deliver market-leading services and an exceptional customer experience globally.

Winner: Effective management of the University of Chicago Medicine’s operating room facilities is critical for the medical centre to balance the needs of its patients and their families, ensure provider satisfaction, and manage costs. Utilising a combination of TIBCO Enterprise Message Service, ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks, TIBCO BusinessEvents®, Spotfire®, and TIBCO Hawk® to refine its operating room turnover processes, UChicago Medicine saw an immediate improvement in patient care and operating margins. With the initial implementation, operating room turnover time decreased by 15-20%, equating to $600,000 a year savings in operating costs. In early 2016, the addition of automatic alerts has continued to drive improvements, anticipated to be an additional 15-20% decrease in turnover time and another $500,000 a year in savings.

Transformer Award - Agile organisations that leverage Fast Data to drive the digital transformation of their businesses, enabling real-time connectivity across systems.

By creating a Fast Data platform comprised of ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks, TIBCO BusinessEvents, TIBCO ActiveMatrix® BPM, and Spotfire, TUI Group transformed its infrastructure to support creation of engaging new channels, such as its newly developed mobile app, TUI Digital Assistant. By introducing new ways for customers to interact with TUI Group, the company reaches important milestones on the way to its target of a net promoter score of 50.

Innovator Award – Collaborative companies focused on accelerating IT innovation across their businesses to provide remarkable product and service delivery to their customers.

Winner: CargoSmart is a provider of global shipment management software, that was facing an expanding and volatile shipping industry that required them to leverage big data to gain the necessary competitive advantage. Integrating the powerful capabilities of TIBCO BusinessEvents, TIBCO Enterprise Message Service, and Spotfire to process and simplify complex data such as live sea traffic conditions, vessel speed, total transit times, and metrics from multiple carriers, CargoSmart is able to enhance its customer decision-making capabilities significantly. Notably, implementation of TIBCO technology has enabled CargoSmart in helping carriers to realise 70% reduction in the number of exceptions.
