Urban Decay's new store at Meadowhall.

Urban Decay opens first UK store outside London at Meadowhall

Urban Decay, the L’Oréal-owned cosmetics brand, has opened its first standalone store outside London at Meadowhall in Sheffield.

British Land, the joint owner of Meadowhall, announced that Urban Decay has moved into a new 554 sq ft store, which is now one of only four stand-alone Urban Decay stores in the UK.

The new store is located on The Arcade, adjacent to River Island and Zara on the Upper Mall.

Founded in 1996, Urban Decay has evolved into a global brand, operating stores in both North and South America as well as across Europe.

Products include a wide range of lip, eye and nail colours as well as other makeup and body products. The brand has also collaborated with artists including singer Gwen Stefani, whose collection is stocked at the new Meadowhall store alongside Urban Decay’s full range of other products.

Richard Crowther, asset manager for British Land, said: “Urban Decay is a prominent international brand and is a unique addition to our retail offer and we are delighted to have secured the brand’s first store outside London.

“Their decision reinforces our status as the region’s leading retail destination and a location in which contemporary brands are eager to secure space.

“This in turn creates a place where people prefer to shop, eat, and enjoy a full day out.”

The news follows the announcement early this month that British Land is to submit a planning application to create a £300m Leisure Hallat Meadowhall.

Consultation takes place in early June with the plans being submitted in late summer. A £60m internal refurbishment of the centre is also underway and due to complete in 2017.

CBRE and Smith Young acted for Meadowhall.
