West Ham look to stamp their identity on Olympic Park after stadium wrap approved
Final preparations for West Ham United’s move to their new Olympic Stadium home are taking shape, after the club was granted permission for their stadium wrap solution.
The plans have been rubber-stamped by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) Planning Decisions Committee, after it met on Tuesday evening to consider the club’s proposals.
Consisting of a high-definition screen measuring 83m wide and 12m high, and flanked by 12m-high fabric panels adorned with West Ham’s crest and colours, the club claims the stadium wrap ‘will set a new benchmark in world stadia’ after it worked with digital experts to perfect the plans.
Crests and sponsorships will be uplit during evening games, and the HD screen will display classic moments from the East London club’s 121 year history in an attempt to stamp the club’s identity on the converted Olympic Stadium site.
The Hammers waved goodbye to the Boleyn Ground, their home for 112 years, at the end of last season after a 3-3 draw with Manchester United.
