Salford Professional Development targets £1m turnover for new executive training division
Salford Professional Development (SPD), the University of Salford’s conference and training provider, is looking to meet an increasing demand for executive education services from UK-based employers with the launch of its new division.
As part of the expansion, individuals from the University of Salford, The Pacific Institute, the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Chartered Management Institute will provide executive-level training for leaders and managers working for public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
SPD is hoping to achieve a £1m turnover with the division in its next financial year.
The courses available will focus on skills in business law, finance and strategic planning, in addition to public speaking, negotiation, leadership behaviours and change management.
SPD’s chief exec, Marc Davis, said: “For organisations to thrive and grow, they must be led with a clear vision and strong leadership ethos.
“We have developed the new division to equip current and aspiring leaders at every level – from junior managers to chief executives – with the skills they need to succeed.”
Marc continued: “In a competitive skills market, it is imperative for employers to engage their staff effectively and develop their potential.
“In addition, there is a trend for the Millennial Generation – those born after 1980 – to be more mobile in the jobs market, which has made it vital for employers to invest in personal development to retain their interest and skillsets.”
Qualified accountant Alison Kennedy, who previously spearheaded SPD’s programme of courses for the IoD, has been promoted to lead the division. In her new role she will be supported by head of executive education Phil Whitman, who has returned to SPD after working for business publication Insider Media.
Jennie Jacobs and David Daniels, meanwhile, have been chosen to head up the division’s sales operation.
Speaking further, Marc commented: “With Alison’s keen eye for detail and Phil’s commercial experience, we are looking forward to the executive education division being a huge success.
“It forms a significant part of our overall growth strategy.”
Earlier this year, SPD reported half-year profit and revenue growth after expanding into new sectors and regions.
