Tech firm to deliver 'first truly pixel perfect' game streaming following $1.5m seed funding

Digital investment firms London Ventures Partners (LVP) and Initial Capital have both contributed to the $1.5m (approx. £1.02m) seed funding round in game streaming specialists Polystream.

The investment will see the firm, who are based in Guildford, further its efforts to deliver ‘pixel perfect’ streaming for gaming and 3D applications through the cloud, allowing users to access applications and games on any device.

Founded by Adam Billyard, who has previously worked at EA and Criterion, and Bruce Grove, formerly of Dell, the technology business has already developed an ultra HD streaming platform that allows developers and producers to deliver content to smartphones, tablets and other devices.

Commenting on this new round of investment, Bruce Grove, said: “We are transforming the world of ordinary linear video into an extraordinary interactive experience; completely redefining both the technology and the business of application streaming.

“Having the backing and support of London Venture Partners and Initial Capital shows huge confidence in what we’re achieving, and we’re incredibly excited to be working with these great partners.

“We’ve already been out across Europe and the US demonstrating the potential of Polystream, and the response has been outstanding - this is the evolution of cloud gaming that everyone has been waiting for.”

Both LVP and Initial Capital specialise in digital investments, whose investment portfolios include the likes of mobile 3D development software Unity and Android TV gaming platform PlayJam.

David Lau-Kee, General Partner at LVP, praised the Guildford firm’s recent growth and said: “Polystream’s progress has been exceptional, and we’re more convinced than ever that they have the tech and team to deliver app cloud streaming that actually works, economically and in UltraHD quality.

He added: “What they are delivering is transformative, and so of course we’re going to double-down.”
