Synergy Automotive puts its pedal to the metal for charity kart challenge

A team from vehicle leasing and finance credit broker Synergy Automotive has helped to raise more than £5,000 for the automotive industry charity BEN by taking part in a charity kart challenge.

MD Paul Parkinson and four colleagues from the Harrogate- based business pitted their skills against 19 other teams at the Broker200 event at Daytona Milton Keynes international circuit, organised by the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA).

The participating teams hailed from vehicle manufacturers, funders and rental companies and, after two-and-a-half hours and 112 laps, Synergy Automotive’s participants sped past the chequered flag for a well-deserved celebratory drink.

Founder and MD, Paul Parkinson, said: “The Milton Keynes track was demanding - starting damp, with more rain during the qualifying laps and at the end of the race. Although we didn’t get a podium finish, we were just happy to take part in such an exciting fundraiser for an excellent cause. We will be more geared up for the 2017 Broker200!”

BEN is the only occupational charity for those who work or have worked in the automotive and related industries. Founded in 1905, it offers practical help, support, advice and friendship to more than 15,000 men and women and their families every year.

It also provides a home to over 350 people, who reside in one of four residential centres in the UK and offers day care facilities at its centre in Coventry.
