Market Quarter scheme to transform Clitheroe with new hotel and shops
Developer and contractor Barnfield Construction is looking to transform Clitheroe’s retail and leisure offer with a new hotel and commercial units.
The Market Quarter development, located just off Station Road in the town centre, will comprise a 60-bedroom hotel and 50,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.
The head of development at Nelson-based Barnfield Construction, Dan Symonds, said: “The proposed scheme promises to provide a new retail and leisure experience for Clitheroe, not only with the creation of a new market, but we also hope to secure a number of high-quality retail and leisure operators not currently represented in the town.”
Real estate consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton has been appointed to market the scheme.
Gareth Hine, an associate director in the retail consultancy team at Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “On the basis that Clitheroe is the largest town in the Ribble Valley and has a thriving population and tourist industry, it could be said that some investment in the town centre is long overdue.
“Due to the local demographic and limited retail provision in the town at the moment, we expect that there will be plenty of interest from potential occupiers.”
Plans for the scheme are due to be submitted in the autumn, once prospective occupiers for the units have been secured.
