After graduation he worked in some of the busiest dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia before receiving his Fellowship in Dentistry at the College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Today he is the owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice and is also the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. He also finds time in his exceptionally busy schedule to tutor and mentor postgraduate dentists in oral surgery at the UCLAN Dental Clinic in Preston.

Tariq Drabu was speaking about an article published on 18 May 2016 on a top dental website. The full article can be read here.

Tariq Drabu in Manchester said “In order to ensure successful oral health in patients in their older years, we need to start putting preventative measures in place now. It is forecasted that one in twelve people in the United Kingdom will be over the age of eighty by 2039. Good oral health in senior years doesn’t only start when we get older, it starts from a very young age and is worked on throughout adulthood.”

Tariq Drabu went on to say “The British Association of Dental Therapists, also referred to as BADT is holding a 2016 conference to increase awareness relating to age related health care, which is called Cradle to Grey. We are already seeing that people are living longer and with the oral health situation in this country right now, we need to tighten controls, put preventative measures in place and help the public improve their oral health moving forward.”

Tariq Drabu closed in saying “We need to focus on every aspect of a patients life from their very first dental appointment to educating the parents on good oral health in their junior years. Children need to learn the importance of oral health at a young age, along with eating a healthy and balanced diet to ensuring good oral health routines when they reach their older years. This way they will have a better quality of life, prolonging their natural teeth for as long as possible.”
