Dart Training Backs Government's New Apprenticeship Campaign

A leading East Midlands training provider is throwing its support behind a government-led campaign which aims to encourage more young people to use apprenticeships as a route into work.

Shardlow-based DART Training is backing the ‘Get In. Go Far’ campaign, which is targeting 14-24 year-olds and their parents in a bid to promote apprenticeships and other routes into work such as traineeships and work placements as an alternative to college and university.

The campaign, which has been launched this week, will also encourage employers to increase the supply of apprenticeships and traineeships. A dedicated website has been launched, which provides details about the range of opportunities available, with special sections for learners, parents, teachers and employers.

DART Training, which is based in Derbyshire and serves the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, specialises in the provision of government-funded training programmes for young people and adult workers, who want to gain a nationally recognised qualification and additional skills to advance or secure their job prospects.

It offers a wide range of courses across land-based industries such as agriculture, animal care, Trees and timber, horticulture, dog grooming, local environmental services, as well as veterinary nursing and small animal care. Supervised managed placements for one day a week are also available for school age learners.

Commenting on the launch of the new government campaign, Anne Morgan, managing director of DART Training, said:

“With more and more young people looking for alternatives to university, it’s great to see the launch of the ‘Get In. Get On’ campaign, which provides valuable help and information about the range of options currently available.

“The new website will give young people the chance to learn more about apprenticeships before they have to make a decision about their future learning and will also enable employers to learn more about the many benefits of employing an apprentice,” added Anne.

DART Training was founded in 1999 with the dedicated aim of meeting the training needs of those working in the land-based industries. The company’s office and operational base is in Shardlow in Derbyshire and the geographical areas it covers include the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.

In 2014, the company merged with Nantwich-based Reaseheath College.
