Easy as riding a bike for Yorkshire pupils

Over 200 primary school pupils across Yorkshire have put their artistic skills to the test in a special competition organised by The Education Network in celebration of Tour de Yorkshire 2016.

The Education Network, a pioneering education recruitment company with offices in Yorkshire and the Humber, launched the competition with its 25 partner primary schools to encourage children and their families to learn more about the benefits of cycling for health and well-being.

Pupils were given a template and invited to design and name their own bike for Tour de Yorkshire 2016 for their chance to win book tokens and high street shopping vouchers.

The competition was organised by keen amateur cyclist and marathon runner Linda Wright, Branch Manager at The Education Network’s Hull office. She said: “Our Tour de Yorkshire design competition has been a huge success. We’ve been staggered by the sheer number and quality of entries. The kids have really got involved, it’s been a great way to demonstrate cycling as a fantastic way for all the family to get outdoors, explore the countryside and keep fit.

“We selected three winners overall because the standard was so high. I’d like to congratulate them and thank all the schools and children for taking part.”

The winners were Ella-Rose Soloman Hill, age 10, from St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School and her bike called ‘Lightning Strike’, Morgan Thompson, age 9 from Stockwell Academy with her entry named ‘Ruby Lee’ and Blessing Sayi, age 7 from Hall Road Academy with his bike called ‘The Golden Speed Motor’.

The Education Network is one of the UK’s primary suppliers of recruitment and professional development services to schools, academies, learning partnerships and multi-academy trusts.

It operates 15 offices nationally with further plans for expansion this year. It specialises in recruiting teachers, teaching assistants, nursery nurse staff and SEN specialists for schools and colleges across the UK.
