Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League bowls into action

Sellick Partnership’s Manchester Professionals Cricket League (MPCL) in association with Spire Manchester Hospital, is returning this week for the eighth year running. From Monday 16th May 2016, 16 teams from across Manchester’s business community will be participating in the nine week cricket league, with funds being donated to St Ann’s Hospice and The Lord’s Taverners.

Jo Sellick, Managing Director of Sellick Partnership, established the league in 2009 to achieve three goals: to promote cricket as a sport, to create a platform for Manchester networking opportunities and to raise funds for charity. Over £65,000 has been raised for St Ann’s Hospice and The Lord’s Taverners since the MPCL was established.

The League commences mid-May and will run to mid-July with games played on Monday to Thursday evenings at clubs in and around Manchester. With teams participating from Manchester’s most prominent organisations, including University of Manchester, PWC and Deloitte, it is a fantastic opportunity for the Manchester business community to strengthen professional relationships and build networks in an enjoyable, social environment.

Cricket devotee and Team Captain for Sellick Partnership, Jo Sellick, commented, “I’m extremely excited about the eighth season of the MPCL starting this week. Many of our valued clients are participating and we have some fantastic new teams on board this year too. Combined with some good-natured competition, the League is a great opportunity to meet new people, establish and build relationships across Manchester, in addition to contributing to two very worthy causes.

“The league is a fantastic event for all involved – I’m delighted with the amount of teams that have shown support and as always, the commitment and competitive nature of all involved makes for an exciting tournament – and one which will certainly bring awareness to the tremendous work St Ann’s Hospice and Lord’s Taverners carry out within the community.”

The MPCL Awards Lunch is a great way to close off the league and Sellick Partnership are delighted to be holding the eighth consecutive event on Thursday 14th October 2016. Sellick Partnership have also developed an informative new MPCL microsite, which will be the hub of all MPCL 2016 information including fixtures, leagues, results, rules, teams, and venues.
