Grafton Group CEO back in the Charity saddle
Grafton Group plc CEO Gavin Slark is taking on his fifth international cycle challenge to raise funds for North East communities.
Gavin and a number of his Senior Management Team will once again hit the roads of Europe as part of Foundation of Light’s epic 300-mile Atlantic to Mediterranean ride.
Led by Sunderland AFC legend Marco Gabbiadini, 40 riders will travel from Arcachon on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean through forests, farmlands, vineyards and historical towns before finally arriving at Gruissan on the Mediterranean Sea.
For Gavin and his team, the challenge will be another landmark on a journey which started in 2011 and has so far covered four countries and almost 5,000 miles.
“We are delighted to be cycling with the Foundation of Light for the fifth consecutive year, said Gavin. “This is a very well organised and challenging event which is both enjoyable and rewarding whilst supporting a very worthy cause.”
The international cycle challenges have become a popular fixture on the Foundation’s calendar of events, seeing riders take on unique and memorable cycling routes across Europe and raise over £200,000 to support the charity’s work in the North East.
The Atlantic to Mediterranean Challenge is supported by Grafton Group plc, logistics specialists OSE, transport partners Springfield Motor Group and confectionary wholesalers, Kitwave One.
