Greenhill Fold Serves Up Appetising Range Of Homes
WORKING and socialising together isn’t enough for two Leeds families who will soon also become neighbours, after becoming the first buyers to reserve homes at a stunning new £8million village development near Leeds.
Greenhill Fold in Upper Wortley is being developed by Leeds companies Rushbond Group and Advent Developments. The development will see the former grade II listed Upper Wortley school transformed into 13, two and three bedroom loft style houses that maximise all the building’s original character, and a further 36, two, three and four bedroom, contemporary new homes are being built within the school’s grounds.
Ritesh and Prasida Suman, who have a seven year old daughter, and Amit and Zhejiao Li (Jojo) Singh, who have a six year old daughter, have both bought four bedroom, three storey, ‘Portland’ homes and taken advantage of the government’s ‘Help to Buy’ scheme. Ritesh, Prasida and Amit are all part of the management team at Red Hot World Buffet on The Headrow in Leeds and plan to move into their new homes during July.
The modern ‘Portland’ homes offer extremely generous living accommodation and will be finished to an exceptional standard with high quality kitchens and bathrooms as well as a wide range of standout features including en-suite facilities in the master bedrooms and Juliette balconies off the first floor living rooms. The properties also offer highly efficient heating systems, landscaped gardens and garages.
Prasida explains: “We looked at all the new homes being built in the area and nearly bought at another development before I saw Greenhill Fold and knew it would be perfect for us. We were immediately impressed when we saw the development. It’s in a quiet area, but less than a 10 minute drive into Leeds city centre, there are good schools nearby and the homes are very spacious and well-designed. Plus, using the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme meant we could buy a much bigger and better home than we would have otherwise been able to secure a mortgage for.
“Ritesh and I have been best friends with Amit and JoJo for many years and as well as working together, we socialise a lot so we were keen to live close to each other. To think that we’ll soon all be moving onto the same street is really exciting.”
Irene Scurrah from Your Move in Rothwell, which is the estate agent marketing the scheme, says: “The ambition for Greenhill Fold is about creating high quality family homes, with a strong sense of community in an established area, and both the Sumans and the Singhs epitomise this, so we’re delighted they’ve decided to buy here.
“The development is proving extremely popular and a quarter of the properties have already been reserved off plan, even though they won’t be ready to move into until summer. Approximately half of buyers are using ‘Help to Buy’ which means they only need a five per cent deposit to secure a 75 per cent mortgage, with the government providing a low interest loan for the remaining 20 per cent, which offers a fantastic route onto the housing ladder.”
Advent is highly-regarded in the local area, having successfully converted Lower Wortley Primary School into apartments and mews houses in 2008. In 2014 both Advent and Rushbond completed a 38 home scheme in York that included the conversion of a former Victorian school with new homes built in the grounds creating a unique new part of the community in York, which won the coveted Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors best residential development award.
The sales centre at Greenhill Fold is now open from 11am until 5pm Thursday to Monday. Anyone wanting further information about Greenhill Fold should call Your Move on 07837 116 469.
