New Parliamentary Group launched to ensure entrepreneurs are "heard loud and clear"
Sajid Javid MP, secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills has launched an all-party parliamentary group (APPG) for entrepreneurship.
The new group’s aim is to give businesses and startup founders the opportunity to be heard in the Houses of Parliament.
During APPG’s first year, the main focus will revolve around four key policy areas: Enterprise Education, Exporting, Tax Reform and Female Founders.
At the launch, which took place Monday (June 6th), the business secretary Sajid Javid said: “I want to make Britain the best place to start and grow a business by backing entrepreneurs to drive forward our economy.
“In an environment that encourages innovation and ideas, this government is championing ambition and creating jobs.
“I’m proud today to be launching the APPG for Entrepreneurship, which will make sure the voice of entrepreneurs is heard loud and clear in Parliament.”
The APPG will also attempt to establish better relations between entrepreneurs and politicians, which will enable startup founders to have a say on the impact of policy changes on entrepreneurship in the UK.
Alan Mak MP, chair of the APPG for Entrepreneurship, added: “The new Entrepreneurship APPG will be a key bridge between Westminster policymakers and entrepreneurs across Britain.
“Economic growth driven by innovation, exports and educational excellence is at the top of the Government’s agenda, and I’m delighted Business Secretary Sajid Javid is reaffirming his commitment to entrepreneurship by launching our APPG.”
