Bellway to create 119 homes near Wigan

Property firm Bellway has been given the greenlight for its plan to create 119 homes in Lowton, near Wigan.

Located on Pocket Nook Lane, the development will comprise a mix of sizes and styles, with around 25% of the properties earmarked as affordable housing.

The scheme will also include a play area and two new ponds to help the local ecosystem.

Vehicular access, meanwhile, will be available through Pocket Nook Lane and nearby Crompton Way.

Wigan Council’s director for economy and environment, Karl Battersby, said: “One of our key priorities is to achieve development and economic growth that will lead to greater economic prosperity in the coming years.

“It is vital that we support appropriate housing development in the borough to keep up with demand for housing and help support growth in our local economy.”

He continued: “Developments like this one will enable people to find the right homes to establish themselves and their family in the borough.

“Good quality new housing along with improved transport links and employment opportunities provides the right mix to keep our local economy growing.”
