Thyson has expanded its manufacturing facility by over 50%

New orders worth £9m drive expansion for Ellesmere Port firm Thyson Technology

Thyson Technology, an analytical systems engineering business, is expanding its Cheshire headquarters and manufacturing centre after achieving its strongest order book to date just months into its new financial year.

The Ellesmere Port-based firm, which last year hit sales of £12m, is now on course to achieve its target of £14.7m after securing £9m of new orders since the beginning of April.

At this point last year, the company had landed new contracts worth £6m.

In the past 12 months, Thyson made its first foray into the UK’s biogas renewable energy market after securing multi-million pound contracts with several companies from the sector, including CNG and Qila Energy.

In a bid to support its growth, Thyson has expanded its manufacturing facility by over 50% by taking on a further 8,200 sq ft of space.

Together with its 7,000 sq ft office HQ, the firm now operates from a 22,000 sq ft site on Ellesmere Port’s Burnell Road.

Established in 1994, today Thyson employs a team of 85. The company creates process analyser systems for the power generation, oil and gas and manufacturing industries.

Thyson’s managing director, Mike Braddock, said: “Despite facing some of the toughest ever trading conditions in the oil and gas sector, we have continued to deliver profitable growth by identifying and successfully targeting new markets.

“From a standing start, in just 12 months we have secured over half of our forecasted revenues from the rapidly expanding domestic biomass industry where our analyser systems and expertise help to deliver critical services.”

He continued: “With the expansion of our manufacturing and testing facility and the on-going growth of our engineering teams we’ve built a solid platform from which we will look to secure our best ever year and support our long-term goal of becoming a £20m business before 2020.”
