M.J. Baker Foodservice links up with Somerset County Cricket Club for ninth year in a row

Leading independent wholesaler M.J. Baker Foodservice has secured a sponsorship deal with Somerset County Cricket Club – marking the ninth year of a long-standing partnership.

The Newton Abbot-based firm’s name and logo will be on the back of the club’s Specsavers County Championship shirt.

M.J. Baker Foodservice has been a shirt sponsor since 2008, and continues its long tradition of supporting sport in the south west.

As well as Somerset, the company also sponsors rugby union side Exeter Chiefs, who ply their trade in the Aviva Premiership.

Sales director Giles Thomas said: “We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with Somerset County Cricket Club.

“Back in 2008 we wanted to associate ourselves with a premium brand in the south west. And Somerset is just that, which is why our sponsorship has run for nine years.

“We thoroughly enjoy dealing with the team over at Somerset and hope this partnership continues into the tenth year and beyond.

“We wish them well for the remainder of the 2016 season.”

M.J. Baker Foodservice has also previously sponsored the T20 and 50 over shirts, before opting to display its logo on the championship kit.

Somerset’s head of commercial operations, Jez Curwin, said: “Over the years, Somerset County Cricket Club and M.J. Baker Foodservice have built an excellent working relationship.

“Both parties are delighted that this is set to continue. The Somerset shirt simply wouldn’t look right without their name on it.”

Launched in 1999, the wholesaler supplies businesses and organisations across the West Country.

M.J. Baker Foodservice is a member of Fairway Foodservice, a buying group made up of 17 independent wholesalers from across the UK, Ireland, Jersey, Spanish Costas and Balearic Islands.
