Preston’s College becomes RAF partner
Preston’s College has beaten off stiff competition to form a new partnership with the Royal Air Force (RAF).
The college was selected from 750 other education providers as the RAF’s Platinum Partner, giving its learners free preferred access to education support initiatives such as personnel and leadership development activities and interview and assessment centre services.
Additionally, Preston’s College students will have unlimited access to the RAF’s new STEM Centre. Due to open in Aintree, the facility will feature real combat aircraft and flight simulators.
The head of division for iSTEM at Preston’s College, Kevin Burke, said: “Building a closer relationship with the RAF will benefit all Preston’s College students, not just our engineers.
“They offer a vast and growing range of range of careers, including vehicle and aircraft mechanics and technicians, caterers, IT specialists, medical and health support and PE staff, and I’m excited to be seeing more of their presence and influence at the college.”
Commenting on the partnership, RAF flight lieutenant Ed Stephens said he is “very impressed” with Preston’s College’s commitment to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education.
Last October, the college launched a £13m facility dedicated to STEM subjects.
Flt Lt Stephens added: “The quality of recruits that the RAF receives is a fantastic testament to its work ready ethos and I look forward to us working more closely over the coming months.”
