Consultancy gears up for expansion

A project management company is gearing up for expansion just three years after it was set up following an unexpected redundancy.

Boxx Consultants, which was founded in 2013 recently managed the £600,000 move of Orchard Office Systems into Central Square, Newcastle and is now managing an £400,000 office renovation and refit in Dundee as a result.

Andrew Moore, who has more than 30 years’ experience as a Building Surveyor and Project Manager, said: “I’d had a varied career managing major building projects in the education, health care and conservation sectors. When the recession started to bite I was working for an architects practice in Newcastle but the whole building surveying team was suddenly made redundant in 2011. It was unexpected and a great shock. Initially, I went to work for a small practice in Hexham but then I thought I can do this myself and I’ve never looked back.

“After just three years in business we’ve successfully project managed some big moves for high profile names including Bede Gaming into their new head-quarters in Great Park in 2015 and their software subsidiary Rocket9 in 2016.

“We’ve recently project managed Orchard’s £600,000 office fit out and move into Central Square, Newcastle. It was a great job to work on and I think the high-spec results speak for themselves. As a result of that project we’ve joined forces with Amos Beach in Dundee to manage a £400,000 office refurbishment for another household name Michelin Tyres - and definitely now have our sights on further expansion outside the region.

“I’m a very positive and pragmatic person and enjoy finding solutions when other people see obstacles. I’ve spent most of my career in the north east and never had the urge to leave the region but with our growing order book and more projects outside the region on the horizon it’s an exciting time.”

Boxx Consultants offers a range of services from surveying and design to project and estate management. The company recently moved into the Maling Exchange at Hoults Yard in Ouseburn due to expansion.

Originally from Ryton, Andrew studied Building Surveying at Northumbria University and now lives in Prudhoe with his wife and two children.
