BT snaps up council contracts worth £200m through pan-London framework

Telecoms giant BT has snapped up contracts with three London borough councils worth £200m.

The agreement will see BT providing a range of ICT products and services in a pan-London framework launched by Westminster City Council, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

The framework is aiming to help authorities improve procurement processes, cut costs and boost efficiency, and is open to all 33 of London’s boroughs along with public sector bodies like the NHS, Transport for London, police forces and schools.

BT’s managing director of major and public sector, Colm O’Neill, said: “This new framework represents an innovative approach to procurement, making it simpler, faster and more cost-effective for public sector organisations in the capital to buy the latest cutting-edge ICT services.

“BT was successful in a highly competitive process against other major communication companies.

He continued: “We’re delighted to have the chance to work with such an interesting and diverse set of public sector organisations ranging from schools, NHS Trusts, police forces and social landlords, among others, to bring them a wide range of ICT services to support pan-London collaboration.”

The latest nine-figure contract is the fourth secured by BT as part of the framework, and the third in which the firm is the sole supplier.
