Last Call for Snowsport Athletes to Compete in the Summer Alpine Series

One of the summers most highly anticipated snowsports event – GBR Indoor Race 3 and the Scottish Indoor Alpine Championships – is now open for racers to enter.

The two-day sporting event will be held at Snowfactor, Braehead on Saturday June 18th and Sunday June 19th.

Event organisers and National Governing Body for snowsports throughout Scotland – Snowsport Scotland – is inviting racers registered with their respective home nation and within the age group categories eligible for BARTS seeding for 2016 to partake in the race series.

And with 140 competitors already signed up to participate in the event, spaces are fast becoming limited, with a maximum number of entrants at 180.

Each race will be a special slalom consisting of two runs down two different courses. Open practice on the recreational slope will also be available for all participants between 8.15am to 8:50am on both days.

Speaking about the upcoming event Ross Gardner, Performance Manager at Snowsport Scotland, said: “We are delighted that so many people have already signed up to compete in what promises to be a great highlight in the snowsporting calendar.

“Having already been very impressed by the talent displayed by all competitors in the winter Alpine Series, we are really looking forward to seeing some outstanding performances in the upcoming races.

“The two-day competitive event provides a fantastic platform for like-minded sporting individuals to share the slopes, demonstrate their capabilities and perform to the best of their ability.”

The Ambition GBR series brings together national domestic races across the UK with race series events being organized by the Home Nations in England, Scotland and Wales both on indoor and outdoor artificial slopes.

And for competitors in the U10 and U12 age ranges, there will be an opportunity to compete in races held on each day between runs 1 and 2. The format of this race will be 2 runs through a stubbies course, of which the fastest of the runs will count for prizes.

“With popularity of this year’s summer Alpine Series being at an all-time high, it has been great to see people becoming increasingly interested in participating in a fun sport at a competitive level. The number of people coming to watch also increases year on year which is fantastic for the sport.

“We would like to invite the community to attend the event and provide encouragement for some of the nation’s fantastic athletes. There will also be lots of advisors on site from Snowsport Scotland who can provide advice for anybody wishing to enter into the exciting world of snowsports.”

We are delighted that Ski Racing Supplies are sponsoring the Scottish Indoor Event with prizes. Main associations involved in running each event in the Alpine Series include Ambition Racing, Muckart and District Snowsports Club, as well as Lothian Ski Racing Association.
