Logistics firm invests in the environment
Chorley-based furniture logistics specialist, Andrew Porter Limited, has begun the roll-out of new, more eco-friendly vehicles for its home and retail delivery fleet.
The firm, which offers home delivery, retail delivery and warehousing services, works with some of the best known retailers, manufacturers and importers in the UK and Ireland and operates a fleet of 40 logistics vehicles.
Andrew Porter Limited has this week taken delivery of the new shaped Mercedes Actros tractor unit for its retail delivery trailers, as well as a Mercedes Axor rigid wagon for its home delivery fleet. The firm, based on Huyton Road, Adlington, has invested a high six figure sum and will continue to update its fleet throughout the year.
Managing director Tim Aspey commented: “These new vehicles offer improved driver comfort, road efficiency and safety and the investment is part of our ongoing commitment to the highest levels of service and environmental care.
“Both vehicles have the aerodynamic sloped roof and highly efficient engines as well as other eco-friendly features, and already we are seeing significant fuel efficiency with the Actros. With the thousands of deliveries we fulfil every week, this adds up to a significant environmental benefit.”
Andrew Porter Limited carries out 3,500 home and retail deliveries every month throughout the UK and Ireland.
