Tottenham update NFL boss on new stadium progress
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy met with the executive vice president international of the National Football League (NFL) this week to provide a progress update on Spurs’ new stadium.
Mr Levy and the NFL’s Mark Waller toured the construction site of the new 61k-seater ground on Tuesday (June 15), as part of a wider series of discussions centred on the venue and the purpose-built facilities it will provide for both sports.
Commenting on the construction progress, Mr Waller said: “It is encouraging to see the new stadium starting to take shape and it certainly whets the appetite for our games here.
“Our relationship with the club and the Tottenham community is a very important part of our future plans in the UK.”
He added: “We are excited to see the full regeneration plan come to fruition as a key part of creating a great experience for our teams and fans.”
Last year, Spurs signed a 10-year deal with the NFL to host two American football games every year.
Once complete, Tottenham’s new stadium will be the biggest Premier League club venue in London, featuring an artificial surface under its retractable grass field to accommodate NFL games.
Mr Levy said: “We are delighted to host our friends from the NFL for detailed stadium discussions and for them to see first-hand the work in progress.
“We have exciting times ahead and our partnership with the NFL, which will see them bringing their own brand of football to Tottenham, is something which will add even more vibrancy to this part of North London.”
