Darnton B3 Architecture completes £40m project for Leeds manufacturer
Darnton B3 Architecture has completed a £40m project for Leeds-based manufacturer Airedale International, which has seen the business return to a new headquarters following a devastating fire in 2013.
The architect firm was appointed to provide a full service delivery aoss all disciplines from immediate clean up through to full new factory including office fit out.
Darnton B3 initially created a temporary facility near to Leeds City Centre for the business to use, whilst handling the reinstatement works and build of a new flagship head office and research and manufacturing factory for its 100 plus administrative staff.
The 22,000 sq mt site includes specialist manufacturing, R&D and testing facilities. A raised production floor across part of its footprint has been created to maximise the site to allow all manufacturing in one level.
Darnton B3 was also responsible for all associated landscaping and demolition/clean up works including a major asbestos clean up after the fire and negotiations with the insurance team dealing with the claim.
Clive Parkman, managing director, said; “The move back to our new facility has been very welcome and is testament to the hard work delivered by Darnton B3.
“The firm has been the perfect partner throughout the entire process and they have worked with us and supported us every step of the way. We can’t thank them enough for their hard work and for the incredible new site.”
Keith Hardcastle, director at Darnton B3 who led on the project, commented: “it is fantastic to see the completion of this longstanding project for Airedale.
“Delivering a full turn-key service has enabled us to stay close to the project every step of the way. We are incredibly proud to have finally handed over this highly advanced facility where Airedale can continue its innovative product development and service delivery.”
