Accountant Puts Disklok Racers in the Driving Seat

Lancashire-based accountancy practice, R P Smith & Co, is sponsoring two local lads and brothers, Mark and Matt Higginson, in their bid for success in the 750 Motor Clubs’ 2016 Road Going Bike Engined and Civic Cup Championships.

The talented duos’ love of motorsport ties in with their careers with the family firm, Disklok, based in Charnock Richard. Their father, Mark Higginson, invented the UK’s leading anti-theft steering wheel device more than twenty years ago.

It’s the fourth consecutive year that R P Smith & Co has sponsored the pair and the fifth that the bothers have raced. Part of the 750 Motor Club, the national Disklok RGB Championship attracts more than 30 competitors per race.

Speedfest Brands Hatch in Kent is the venue for the next race on 11 and 12 June, in which Matt, 33, from Euxton will race the 1000cc motor bike engined AB Performance Arion S2.

Purchasing director, Matt, was the 2013 and 2014 national champion, 2015 class champion and currently tops the leader board for the 2016 season after four rounds. Head of buying, Mark, finished fifth overall last season and has secured first and second podium finishes so far this campaign.

Matt said: “Big thanks everyone at R P Smith & Co for their continued support. They share our passion for motorsport and it’s great to have partnered with a fellow local firm for so many years.

“Disklok steering wheel lock is the world leader in the fight against car crime and as title sponsor, we’re hoping to beat our rivals to number one spot.”

Kieran Brophy, partner at R P Smith & Co, added: “Disklok is a long-standing client and we’re proud to sponsor Matt and Mark once again in their bid to achieve great success this year.”
