Avon scoops two industry awards

Avon has scooped two awards at the annual Direct Selling Association conference 2016 – the Leadership Award and the DSA Support Award.

General manager of Western Europe, Andrea Slater, won the Leadership Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities and for being an industry role model. Her commitments to people – both in-house at Avon and the Avon Representatives she champions and supports were recognised by the DSA. Andrea counts herself as fortunate to be given so much opportunity at Avon, from working in market research and commercial marketing, to launching Avon’s new digital platform.

Andrea says: ‘I’m so fortunate to be in a job where I feel rewarded constantly. I meet and speak with women daily who tell me how Avon has empowered them to better their lives.

‘As a leader, I enjoy seeing people grow and develop. Many of the people I work with as peers may have worked for me at one point and it’s incredibly rewarding to know I’ve played a part in their development. I also get a huge amount of satisfaction from creating high performing teams.’

Head of ecommerce business integration, Anthony Lewis, and Emma Lowry, head of digital, PR and media, won the DSA Support Award. An award given to those who provide first class support to company colleagues.

Emma and Anthony were integral to the implementation of the new My Avon Store digital platform, offering everyone the opportunity to start their own online business.

Sales Leader, Louise Carter, is already using the online platform as a way to develop and build her business. Louise says: ‘I’m motivated by everyone around me and it’s completely inspiring to see that Andrea, who started as a Representative, has won the DSA leadership award. It’s amazing that the woman who’s the driving force for Avon in the UK has been recognised within the industry as a role model. Andrea is certainly someone I look up.’

‘Since I started my business it’s gone from strength to strength. I take every opportunity that comes my way with Avon and the new online platform was something I wanted to get involved with straight away.’
