Anfield expansion: Liverpool update fans on Main Stand development

Liverpool FC have hit a new milestone in the multi-million pound expansion of the Main Stand at Anfield, with work to install the new middle tier now complete.

The Reds have today (June 23) confirmed that the Main Stand’s middle level, which will seat 3,000 fans when it opens for the 2016/17 season, is now in place.

In a report on the club website, Liverpool posted a timelapse video showcasing the progress made so far at Anfield.

Elsewhere, progress has been made with the installation of the flooring and kiosks within the new concourse, which will be the largest at the stadium. Podium steps, escalators, accessible lifts and lighting, meanwhile, have all been fitted.

Work on new public realm around the Main Stand is also underway, including new trees and landscaping to reconnect the stadium with nearby Stanley Park.

Plans have also been submitted for a new walkway featuring fan tributes.

Once complete, the new Main Stand will be one of the biggest all-seater single stands in European football.
