Makeup Collection Celebrates The Beauty Of Older Women
In a society where the ‘ideals’ of beauty are almost exclusively represented through images of younger women and ‘anti-ageing’ products, it can be hard for older women to accept the natural ageing process, and also to find realistic role models to feel inspired by.
At the age of 65, Tricia Cusden grew frustrated with the lack of beauty products available specifically for mature skin, so she set out to create a range which catered for a vast, but under-represented, age group. In October 2013, Tricia took herself out of retirement and launched Look Fabulous Forever.
Tricia, now 68, was not only inspired to create a makeup range which provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for older women, but also wanted to create a place where older faces and real women were celebrated through a ‘pro-age’, rather than ‘anti-age’ ethos. The brand has also developed over 40 makeup tutorials available on YouTube, featuring real women over the age of 50, which have had nearly 2 million views between them.
The Look Fabulous Forever collection offers a wide range of products including primers, foundations, lipsticks and blushers which work to enhance the beauty of mature faces and skin and is sold exclusively online.
Since its initial launch, Look Fabulous Forever has grown rapidly and now sells internationally with customers in more than 28 countries worldwide. The business was shortlisted for Best Business Startup by The Guardian in 2014, and in 2015 Tricia won Digital Achiever of the Year which was awarded by CEW and sponsored by Google. This year Look Fabulous Forever has been shortlisted for the Online Retail Awards 2016, within the beauty and small business categories.
