Jackson Hogg Recruitment spreads its wings to Swans Centre

North East recruitment firm Jackson Hogg is the region’s latest firm to relocate to the Swans Centre for Innovation in Wallsend.

The Swans Centre for Innovation is part of a low-carbon enterprise zone located on the banks of the Tyne for companies providing support to the offshore sector.

Leaving its base on Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside, the firm believes the move will present scope to grow by being closer to the heart of the North East’s offshore industry.

The Centre was made possible by a £1.9m investment, including £1m from the European Regional Development Fund.

The significance of the site is not lost on Jackson Hogg Managing Director Richard Hogg who started his career as a mechanical engineer before founding the company to recruit professionals and managers for the energy, engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Richard Hogg said: “This move puts us right at the heart of the North East offshore industry, as well as providing space for our growing team. Having trained and worked as an engineer myself it is nice to return to my roots.

“Our region has a proud engineering history and a bright future, and the redevelopment of the Swan Hunters offices into a business centre perfectly embodies both.

Mark Robinson, Director of Kier Property and Swans’ site development partner, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jackson Hogg Recruitment as the latest business to take up home in the new state-of-the-art Swans Centre For Innovation, and we wish them every success as they start out in their new base.

“As an advanced manufacturing and technology hub in a prime location on the banks of the River Tyne, the Centre For Innovation provides an ideal space for businesses in the renewable, engineering and related industries and we look forward to welcoming more new arrivals in the near future.”

Richard added: “The first industrial revolution turned the banks of the Tyne into a powerhouse of industry, which built ships to carry goods around the world, now the North East is taking its place as a centre for 21st century industries as part of the Northern Powerhouse.”
