Arch completes construction work at Commissioners Quay Inn
Arch, the Northumberland Development Company, has completed construction work at The Commissioners Quay Inn, a 40 bed hotel in Blyth.
This development is the second phase of Arch’s investment at Commissioners Quay, adding a further £5m following the opening of Blyth Workspace last year and with a new housing scheme planned later this year.
The Commissioners Quay Inn has been designed with 40 bedrooms, across three floors, with a ground floor bar and eatery accommodating up to 265 diners.
Hospitality firm The Inn Collection Group (ICG). which has a portfolio of inns with rooms across the North East and North Yorkshire, will operate the site.
Cllr Dave Ledger, Arch Chair and Deputy Leader of Northumberland County Council said: “We are delighted to have worked with a leisure operator of the ICG’s calibre to provide Blyth with this much- needed new accommodation provision in a prime regeneration location.
“Today’s completion of the building marks Northumberland County Councils investment programme in Blyth to boost the area’s economic and tourism capacity. As well as creating jobs, visitors bring vital added spend into the local economy, so this announcement is good news all around.”
ICG chief executive Keith Liddell said: “This is a pinnacle moment for us and a very proud day for Blyth. The Commissioners Quay Inn is a true legacy for the town and will be a mainstay place to eat and drink for people living here and the surrounding areas.
“The addition of The Commissioners Quay Inn to Blyth fills a gap in the market for much-needed tourist and corporate accommodation and will help draw in vital visitor spend.
“But just as importantly The Commissioners Quay Inn will provide the community here with an exciting new place to eat, dine and meet with their family, friends and colleagues in a location that is absolutely unique.
“The inn certainly is a jewel in the crown for The Inn Collection Group. We are looking forward to opening our doors on July 15 and welcoming people in from the town to share this with us.”
