Exchange Station in Liverpool to house international recruitment firm Randstad
Global recruitment company Randstad is set to establish a new base in Liverpool’s business district.
The firm is relocating its team from Temple Square on Dale Street to Exchange Station, a 190,000 sq ft office building acquired earlier this year by property firm Commercial Estates Group (CEG).
Randstad has signed up for 2,760 sq ft on a five-year lease. Existing tenants at the site include law firm Bermans, PR company Active Profile, infrastructure engineering business Mouchel and Swedish bank Handelsbanken.
Since acquiring Exchange Station from the Homes and Communities Agency in March, CEG has launched the first phase of a £7m refurbishment programme at the site. Once complete, the works will see the building’s third floor split into three Grade-A office suites ranging from 3,000 sq ft to 4,000 sq ft.
The news of Randstad’s move to Exchange Station coincides with the appointment of Hitchcock Wright & Partners and GVA Bilfinger as joint commercial letting agents on the scheme.
Hitchcock Wright & Partners’ head of office agency, partner Brian Ricketts, said: “CEG’s commitment to invest in one of Liverpool’s most iconic and prestigious buildings has successfully attracted businesses of an extremely high calibre.
“The phased refurbishment programme will provide occupiers with a wide range of high quality office suites and will be able to accommodate businesses of all sizes.”
Exchange Station was built in 1888, serving as a railway station before being redeveloped almost 100 years later.
Bilfinger GVA director Ian Steele commented: “Having already invested approximately £20m in Exchange Station, this is the only speculative refurbishment programme of its size currently on-site in the commercial district and will deliver much-needed Grade-A office space to satisfy both immediate and future occupational demand.
“We have already received expressions of firm interest from a number of potential occupiers in what is a premier location and a fantastic business address for any organisation.”
CEG secured the Randstad deal in partnership with property firm Anglo Scandinavian Estates.
