Recommendation Leads to New Career in Gas

After years of working in the manufacturing sector, David had the opportunity to change his career direction selecting a specialist trade offering a wider scope for better earnings.

“I chose the domestic gas industry based on a friend’s recommendation; I had experience of hands-on trade work such as plumbing, tiling, and plastering, and really thought a career in gas would provide the control and flexibility I’d been looking for.”

David enrolled on the BTC Training Centre’s Entrant Multi-Skilled Gas Engineer Course for new entrants, and benefited from a guaranteed six week Work Placement with Elliot Hodgson Heating and Plumbing following his training. He completed a 30 day on-site programme to build a portfolio of evidence - a mandatory requirement to become a qualified Gas Engineer.

“The experience was fantastic - the tutors would do anything for you! I was incredibly well supported which is very comforting given the personal investment made in the training. My work placement experience was excellent, in fact credit to BTC Training, I actually got to the point where my work placement couldn’t teach me anymore!”

Following qualifying from BTC David has secured a full-time position working for the Yorkshire based Artisan Fireplaces Ltd, as part of their team of fire and stove installers.
