Seven-figure furniture installation completed for new RVI Resource Centre
Work to install new furniture at the Royal Victoria Infirmary’s new Clinical Resource Centre, in Newcastle, has reached completion.
Furniture designer and manufacturer Godfrey Syrett was appointed to manufacture a range of furniture, which included over 1,200 chairs, 700 work stations and just under 900 storage units, to meet NHS requirements.
Altogether, the new building will accommodate over 800 professional staff across eight storeys.
Godfrey Syrett, which has manufacturing and distribution hubs in Killingworth and Durham, has also recently completed furniture installations for NHS Newcastle at Regents Point, Gosforth, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and Central Manchester University Hospital.
Tim Pavier, area sales manager at the firm, said: “After receiving notification of an installation deadline we acted very quickly to deliver the furniture within the given timescales and were delighted to complete the project four weeks early.
“The process was helped by the fact that we had recently moved into our new £2m distribution hub in Durham which has an 11-strong delivery vehicle fleet.”
Godfrey Syrett first started working with the NHS when it was newly formed in 1947. The company’s founders, Ken Godfrey and Harry Syrett, set up the business in a small factory in Killingworth after identifying a need to supply the NHS with robust and durable tables and chairs.
David Hall, sales director at Godfrey Syrett said: “We are very proud of our heritage, which has been built over time by passionate people with real expertise, who share our business’ core values.
“The NHS is where it all started for Godfrey Syrett and we are delighted that we are still delivering furniture solutions to them nearly 70 years later. Thanks to partners like the NHS we have evolved and developed into a £25 million turnover business and now deliver furniture solutions across all market sectors throughout the UK.”
