High interest levels at new Skelmanthorpe development

A new David Wilson Homes development in Skelmanthorpe has received high levels of interest since its official opening last weekend, with over 20% of the new homes on site now reserved. The Paddocks is a rural development of three and four bedroom homes set within the Huddersfield village.

With prospective buyers citing the close proximity to good schools as a key reason for their interest, the demand at the new site clearly demonstrates the importance of nearby quality education as a factor in the house hunting process. Recent findings[1] found that one in four families move house to secure a school place for their children, and considering the catchment areas that a home falls in can be a major contributor as to whether a house appeals to a new buyer.

Sam Wood, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented:

“When moving home, it’s important to take a number of factors into consideration. Whilst qualities such as the house possessing all the features you require, boasting the right specification, being in a neighbourhood you’re happy with and offering you enough space are obviously important, one factor that is key for families to consider is the local schooling. More and more we’re getting feedback from our sales advisers on site that families are searching for and selecting developments based on the local schooling in the area.”

The Paddocks offers luxurious three and four bedroom homes, whilst also boasting great local education. Located half a mile from Shelley College - the high school and sixth form offers an Ofsted Outstanding rating from its most recent 2013 review and provides local 13 to 18 year olds with the opportunity to make excellent progress in their studies.

Sam Wood continued:

“The Paddocks is a development that offers stunning views in a rural setting, however the fact that it’s located so close to a school recognised for excellence in the way that Shelley College is, only amplifies the draw of the new homes. We’ve already received lots of enquiries and interest, and as we’re offering three and four bedroom properties, it makes them ideal for families looking to move into an area with a strong educational offering.”

Homes at The Paddocks in Skelmapthorpe range from £309,995 to £429,995 and are available to purchase using Help to Buy and David Wilson Homes’ innovative part exchange scheme. More information can be found at http://www.dwh.co.uk/new-homes/west-yorkshire/H664301
