£9.4m scheme to create 95 homes in Runcorn

Building firm Seddon is working on a £9.4m contract to create dozens of new homes in Runcorn.

The Bolton-headquartered developer has partnered up with Halton Housing Trust, the Cheshire-based social landlord, to deliver 95 homes on the site of the former junior, infant and nursery school on Latham Avenue.

The scheme will comprise 24 one-bedroom apartments along with 45 two-bed and 14 three-bed houses, all for social rent. A further 12 three-bedroom houses will be built for market sale though Seddon’s sister firm, Seddon Homes.

Seddon’s North West regional director, Duncan Williams, said: “This latest project with Halton Housing to build 95 quality homes for local people in Runcorn is another good example of how we work with the sector to find solutions for new build projects.

“Seddon has a fantastic pedigree in delivering schemes for social housing providers – we have secured around £31m of social housing contracts over the past 12 months, and have also won positions with all the major frameworks in the sector.”

Work on the project, which was designed by PRP Architects, is due for completion in December 2017.

Halton Housing Trust’s development manager, Nicky Harris, commented: “The work at Latham Avenue is one of the largest schemes we have embarked on in Runcorn.

“It will provide a mix of much needed homes, from apartments to three bedroom houses. Some will be available for sale through Seddon Homes, which is exciting news for the community.”

She added: “We are delighted to be working with Seddon again and are confident we will deliver a high quality scheme.”
