Ellesmere Port-based Quality Freight invests £300k in mobile crane service
Cargo handling firm Quality Freight UK (QF UK) has used a six-figure investment to launch a new mobile crane service.
The company, which operates from a terminal on the Manchester Ship Canal, ploughed £300k into acquiring a second Fuchs loading machine.
Now, QF UK now operates one Fuchs crane in St Helens, where it discharges trains for freight forwarding firm DB Cargo, and another at its Ellesmere Port base, where it carries out train and vessel work.
As part of the mobile crane service, both machines can be moved to locations across the North West at short notice. The cranes are able to handle products ranging from glass and sand to sugar, rice, animal feeds and polyethylene terephthalate.
Sebastian Gardiner, QF UK’s managing director, said: “The addition of a second Fuchs crane gives us increased capability and flexibility.
“We believe many companies will be interested in using one of the cranes either as a standalone service or as part of a broader logistics solution.”
He added: “In the first instance we are looking to grow the mobile crane service in the North of England but, in due course, there is no reason why it cannot have a UK-wide reach.”
Quality Freight UK forms part of the Quality Freight Group, which has operations in Dublin, Cork, Belfast, Knock, Chatham, Hull and Rotterdam.
