Newcastle printmaker attracts worldwide buyers as sales soar

International sales success has come to one Newcastle-based artist thanks to online art marketplace Artfinder.

Commuting from her home in Newcastle to her countryside studio at The Hearth arts centre in Horsley, Rebecca Vincent creates what she describes as ‘idealised landscapes with patchwork fields, expressive skies and windswept trees’.

Vincent’s depictions of Northumberland’s countryside have acquired buyers from countries around the world including Australia, Canada, America and France.

The Lancashire-born artist, who has lived in Newcastle for the last 23 years, joined Artfinder in September 2013 and has received more than 165 orders. The site, which is based in London, currently features the work 7500 artists from 103 countries.

Speaking of her sales success, Rebecca explained: “Based in the North East of England, my work was mainly enjoyed by people in the region. Artfinder has allowed me to be part of an international community as a working artist.

“It has significantly increased my sales and exposed my work to a really diverse range of people. It’s about more than earning a living, for me, it’s the fact that someone loves my work enough to want to own it.’

Jonas Almgren, CEO of Artfinder, added “Our mission here at Artfinder is to give independent artists the ability to directly support themselves and to make a living from their art.

“I’m delighted that so early in the company’s growth that we have success stories such as Rebecca’s. In 2016 our world is smaller than ever and our site is the source of so many amazing global stories of artists connecting with customers, developing relationships that may last a lifetime.”
