No Trade License For Those Who Have Turned Their Residential Space Into A Commercial One
Earlier in 2013 the urban development department had allowed commercial use of residential Flats In Kolkata. The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has decided not to sanction trade license to Salt Lake residents who are willing to use their residential apartment for business purpose only until all the dues of property tax gets cleared. In 2013, 40 pollution-free, non-toxic businesses were permitted for commercial practice inside a residential premise. Now the count has mount up to 60, after the civic authorities are receiving several requests from the youths who are showing interest to utilize their residential accommodation for business-related purpose.
Now Bidhannagar civic authority has made this approval a little confined with adding the tax clearing clause into it. Civic officials also stated people who have applied for opening business into their residential property, maximum of those requests are seen with due property tax status. Last week’s move has drastically reduced in terms of the numbers of fresh approach to have trade license against this continuity. Leaseholders too have to have an enlistment certificate from the corporation as well. Once the green light turns on, they will have to pay Rs 80 per sq ft as permission fees in addition to the application fee of Rs 500 as per the sources.
Residential apartments are used for 60 different types of commercial purposes but that doesn’t mean having a trade license is a piece of cake. In most of the cases leaseholders haven’t cleared the due amount of property tax. Thus the civic authority has come up with a GIS mapping system. Thus there will be a clear data of the residential properties under corporation jurisdiction; for a data centre is also setting up at the corporation building. Currently there is a comprehensive survey going on for collecting the original data of the tax payers.
