Barratt Manchester celebrates proposal at new Littleborough Development

Five Star housebuilder, Barratt Homes Manchester, found itself unexpectedly at the centre of a marriage proposal at its new St James’ Place development in Heywood.

To help welcome them to their new home, Barratt sales adviser, Janet Loughnane, was poised with house keys, champagne and flowers for first time buyers, Liam Fairclough and Heather Leonard. Little did she know that the occasion would set the scene for a tender marriage proposal.

Just minutes after being presented with the keys to their first new home, Liam got down on one knee to propose to Heather – who luckily said yes! Commenting on the romantic moment she unexpectedly witnessed, sales adviser, Janet said:

“It was such a lovely, happy occasion to be a part of. I was delighted for Liam and Heather anyway, as this is their first home together, which is always a little bit special.

“The moment when Liam proposed was absolutely beautiful, and I was just thrilled and honoured to play a small part in such an exciting time in their lives. I wish them every happiness in their new home together.”

Heather, 28, an administrator at a local printing company, and Liam, 26, a mobile dog groomer, viewed the three bedroom home just six weeks ago, having previously been living with their parents whilst saving up for a deposit.

The couple purchased a three bedroom Barwick home for £179,995, and like many first time buyers, took advantage of the Government’s popular Help to Buy Equity scheme. This enabled them to take advantage of a 20% equity loan, which is interest free for five years. Added to their own 5% deposit, stepping on to the property ladder was relatively straightforward.

Now happily settling in, the newly engaged couple couldn’t be more delighted with their new home, and are full of praise for the excellent service they received from Barratt.

Liam said; “Our sales adviser, Janet, was hugely helpful all the way through the buying process and nothing was too much trouble. We felt very relaxed and informed from start to finish, which made buying our first home a very positive experience.

“We struck up a very trusting relationship with Janet during the buying process, so I was completely comfortable proposing to Heather in her company!”

St James’s Place is a stunning new development of spacious three and four bedroom homes located in Littleborough, a picturesque village outside Rochdale which is popular with families, and within easy commuter reach of Manchester, Rochdale, Bradford and Leeds.

New show homes launch on Saturday 9 July. For more information on St James’ Place, go to www.barratthomes.co.uk
