Harris CM are winners in Wakefield

Harris CM has scooped a coveted business award at the sixth annual Wakefield Business Awards.

The construction firm won the ‘Business of the Year’ award beating 11 other businesses to take the title. The ceremony was held at Unity Works with over 235 attendees. The awards recognise and raise the profile of trailblazing businesses that contribute towards the City’s economy.

Harris CM is part of Harris Construction Management Limited which employs more than 50 people, and predominantly operates in the private sector delivering industrial, commercial, residential and retail schemes.

Danny Mulqueen of Harris says: “Our business was first established to service the requirements of Asda’s distribution network, but we have quickly grown and diversified and now work for a huge range of clients including Nando’s, Burger & Lobster, Coca Cola and Britvic Ltd.

“One of the things that has helped with our success is our robust operating model. It’s proven to be flexible enough to support a much wider range of projects throughout the UK and this, combined with our senior management team’s hands on approach to all aspects of the procurement and construction process, has meant that we have exceeded all of our targets over the last ten years.

“Whilst we operate throughout the UK, we are proud of our Yorkshire roots, and we are delighted to receive this award which recognises our contribution to the continued growth of our home town of Wakefield. The win is also testimony to the hard work of everyone in our experienced team.”

Harris have delivered consecutive year on year profitable growth since its formation seven years ago growing its turnover to £43 million in 2015.
